Cirrus Aircraft Using Solumina to Accelerate FAA Certification

iBase-t Experts

Foothill Ranch, Calif., February 10, 2015 iBase-t, the creators of Solumina’s Product Lifecycle Execution (PLE) software suite announced today that Cirrus Aircraft, a recognized leader in general aviation, is standardizing on Solumina’s Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to accelerate U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) conformity management of certification test articles of its Vision SF50 Jet program. Solumina is automating the reconciliation process and data synchronization at both the Grand Forks, North Dakota and Duluth, Minnesota manufacturing facilities, ensuring greater scalability of certification and reconciliation workflows than had been attainable in the past.

Cirrus Aircraft Taking a Leadership Role in FAA’s Certification Process Improvement Initiative

Cirrus Aircraft continues to be an industry leader in streamlining conformity management of certification test articles and is a leader in the FAA’s Certification Process Improvement Initiative program. Their close collaboration with the FAA has resulted in many accomplishments including Cirrus being approved to use Solumina in place of piece part level conformity. Cirrus Aircraft has demonstrated compliance to regulations and the FAA has issued the approval to use Solumina for conformity management of certification test articles on the Vision SF50 Jet program.  Using Solumina at Cirrus Aircraft will improve the certification process by automating reports, increasing visibility to both aircraft and component level processes, and eliminating non-value added activities. This collaborative success between the FAA and Cirrus Aircraft continues to demonstrate the progress made by the FAA in their certification process improvement initiative.

Rick Hollander, Vice President of Manufacturing and Supply Chain, says that Solumina is making significant contributions to streamlining the reconciliation process and is helping Cirrus to successfully scale the Vision SF50 program. “With Solumina, we are able to be more efficient in our ability to compile and analyze key data for conformity, which has been a large manual effort in the past” Mr. Hollander said.

“We’re honored to contribute to Cirrus’ and the FAA’s efforts to accelerate certification through the Certification Process Improvement Initiative,” said Michel Gadbois, iBase-t, Vice President of Sales. “Cirrus excels at innovation and we’re thankful to be a contributing catalyst to their continued success.”
